Surrounded by nature

noisy friarbird bird flower penda
A front yard Golden Penda flower in Cairns attracts birds such as this Friarbird, in the spring.

One thing about living in a semi-rural area is you can become a bit blase to the beauty of nature around you. I’m more likely to get angry at the stuff that drops out of this beautiful Golden Penda on to my car than to take the time to appreciate the beauty of the flower itself.

So every so often it’s nice to get out the camera and shoot out my bedroom window into my front yard. Just to sit and enjoy what comes along and hopefully get a nice shot or two. Unfortunately the rainbow lorrikeets always seem to come at the wrong time of the day for the nice light but this Noisy Friarbird had good timing!
